Shipt names Kelly Caruso as the new CEO
Bill Smith, founder and CEO of Shipt, a wholly owned subsidiary of Target, has announced that he will be departing the company to pursue his next entrepreneurial challenge. He will continue to serve as an advisor to the company. Kelly Caruso will join Shipt, effective immediately, as the new CEO. John Mulligan, Shipt Director and Target’s Chief Operating Officer in a statement said, “With expertise ranging from the sales floor to sourcing and merchandising, Kelly is a proven leader who knows retail inside and out. She’ll help Shipt continue bringing same-day convenience to more consumers through its growing marketplace of retail partners. Bill’s entrepreneurial achievements have changed the game in same-day delivery, and we thank him for his outstanding leadership of Shipt.”
Caruso brings more than 25 years of retail experience to her new role. Most recently, Caruso served as SVP Hardlines at Target, in which she was responsible for developing the merchandising and guest experience strategies for toys, electronics, and entertainment. Previously, she was President of Target’s independent global sourcing business, supporting the company’s owned-brand growth. “I’m honoured to join the Birmingham community and lead the Shipt team as we continue to grow our shopper network, assortment, and retail partners to make life simpler for millions of people,” stated Kelly Caruso.
Minneapolis-based Target Corporation has more than 1,800 stores and also sells its products through Target.com. Since 1946, Target has given 5 percent of its profit to communities, which today equals millions of dollars a week.
