KPR group from India inaugurates its garment unit in Ethiopia

Coimbatore based (South India), KPR Group, a vertically integrated textile company, inaugurated its plant at Mekelle Industrial Park in the region of Tigray, Ethiopia. The total investment on this production unit is $2.5 million.

Back in India, the company has one of the largest garment manufacturing capacity, producing 95 million garments per annum for men, women and children. The Company has installed Wind Mills with a total generation capacity of 61.92MW of green power for captive consumption; 75% of total power requirement is being met with its wind mills.

In Ethiopia, KPR Group made its first garment export to Europe from the Mekelle Industrial Park in January 2019, and so far has exported over 200,000 units in two-rounds. The company has created employment for over 700 workers.
