Bangladesh’s garment export earning in FY19 is $28.49 billion

Each year Bangladesh is surpassing its own targets in garment exports. During the July-April of current fiscal (FY19) marked 11.61 per cent growth.  In the same period of FY 2018, the country’s garment export earning was $25.30 billion, and in this FY, it has touched $28.49 billion. The earnings of the current fiscal also surpassed the target by 6.53 per cent.

The earnings from knitwear exports is $ 14.08 billion, a growth of 12.32 per cent compared to $ 12.54 billion in the corresponding period of last fiscal. In the first ten months, export of woven garments grew by 12.85 per cent to $ 14.40 billion, from $12.76 billion in the same period of FY18.

However, the export earnings from home textile exports witnessed a fall by 3.74 per cent to $ 723.59 million during the period. The country earned $ 837.07 million from exports of leather and leather products in the ten months of FY ’19, marking an 8.69 per cent decline during the period.

Earnings from leather footwear, grew 6.72 per cent to $ 491.05 million in the July-April period.
