Old Navy named one of the 2019 best workplaces in retail by great place to work and fortune
Great Place to Work and Fortune have honored Old Navy as one of the 2019 Best Workplaces in Retail. To determine the Best Workplaces in Retail, Great Place to Work®, a global people analytics and consulting firm, analyzed anonymous survey feedback representing over 694,000 employees working at Great Place to Work-CertifiedTM organizations in the Retail industry. Employees responded to more than 60 survey questions anonymously rating their employers. Old Navy took the No. 14 spot on the list.
“This year, we’re celebrating Old Navy’s 25-year-history of fun, family, fashion and value. We’re proud of our heritage and equally excited about the future – how we’ll grow, learn, change and compete over the next 25 years,” said Sonia Syngal, CEO of Old Navy. “As we evolve, what remains unwavering is Old Navy’s commitment to fostering a fast-moving culture and values that make this brand a great place to work and shop every day. We believe in inclusivity for all and a more sustainable world for future generations.”
The Best Workplaces in Retail stand out for creating great workplaces for all employees, regardless of position or other personal characteristics.
In 2019, Old Navy focused on fostering a purpose-led culture by creating powerful moments that bring fun and creativity into work every day. The company commemorated its 25th birthday with a celebration of belonging, which has been core to the brand from the beginning. Old Navy proudly became the first retailer to extend the Open to All pledge beyond the U.S. to its stores in Mexico and Canada. Open to All is an organization that protects customers from discrimination by asking businesses to sign a pledge that when they open their doors, they are Open to All. The brand was one of the founding partners to sign the pledge and proudly display the Open to All decal at all stores – Old Navy’s doors are open for everyone, and open for ideas, open for love, open for differences, open for dialogue, and open for change.
Old Navy is continuously investing in programs that allow employees to continue to learn and squeeze more fun out of life together. This year, the brand launched a creativity and wellness-focused employee program, providing employees the opportunity to participate in classes that inspire creativity and promote physical wellness.
“Great retailers know that employees who love their job are more motivated to provide the best service to customers,” said Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work. “These winning workplaces are giving their employees careers they can be proud of in an environment where they can learn and grow, and their customers love them for it.”
