At a time when retail in the U.S. is apparently struggling, Calvin Klein is discontinuing with its Collection Label iconic business which became known as CalvinKlein205W39NYC under Simons in 2017. After skipping a season of New York Fashion Week and parting ways with Creative Director Raf Simons, Calvin Klein’s motive were clear. The company is also closing its Calvin Klein by Appointment business

The brands has opted to focus on the middle market, where the money is. Since the brand has been acquired by PVH, the mid-segment apparel business has grown for the brand for the last few years. Given the decision to shut down its runway division, the company would be closing its Milan office altogether. It would be laying off employees who worked for the runway label, including 50 employees in its New York office and 50 in the Milan office.
